HISTORY OF THE ATTRACTION
Notice of Sabhasad Bakhar, Gandharvgad is one of the 111 fort restored by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. On January 1666, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj caught this fortress in the victory of Panhala with a multitude of 5000.
July 1687, Desai's of Kakti Karyati and Desai of Hukkeri Pargana's caught this stronghold from Marathas, for which Adilshah were guaranteed the Deshmukhi of Ajamnagar in Belgaon and Chandgad Ajra individually. Adilshah controlled the fort numerous years. Sadashivrao Bhau Peshwa stayed here for a few times amid his Karnataka crusade. Later the British armed force decimated this post in 1844.
Gandharvgad is a little town in Chandgad Taluka in Kolhapur District. Chandgad, Ajara, Nesari, Gadhinglaj, are the adjacent Towns to Gandharvgad. This fort is reachable by Belgaum Railway Station, Desur Railway Station, Madure Railway Station, Sawantwadi Road Railway Station. Its principle Village Panchayat is Gandharvgad Panchayat.
Gandharvgad is one hour strolling separation from Valukuli town. The door of post began at little Hanuman Temple. There are homes on the post. Further on thusly is the sanctuary of Lord Chaloba, which is the divinity of town.
Ahead is an antiquated well, which has consumable water. There is a ground before Chaloba Temple, where there were remainders of old royal residence of the Herekar Sawant. Nothing can be seen now. In the eastern piece of the fortress, we can discover a few plinths. The defenses on the southern side are in place and roomy. There are 3 mystery sections in the dividers here.

By Bus:-
Pune to Gandarvagad by Bus
From Pune there are ST (State Transport) buses and Volvo buses available to Kolhapur, distance between Pune to Kolhapur is 267 kms, from Kolhapur there are ST (State Transport) buses and local transport available to Belgaum, from Belgaum there are local transport available to Valkuli, which is 40 kms from Belgaum.
PLACES TO VISIT ON FORT
- Temple of Lord Chaloba, remnants of old palace of the Sawant, Remmainings of the fort and a well.
- On reaching the entrance, there is a Hanuman Temple on the right side of the road. There are residences on the fort. Further on this way there is a temple of Lord Chaloba.
