Mahabaleshwar

Mahabaleshwar is a hill station located in the Western Ghats, in Satara district of Maharashtra. Apart from its strawberries, Mahabaleshwar is also well known for its numerous rivers, magnificent cascades and majestic peaks. It is among the most sought after weekend getaways from Pune & Mumbai, located about 120km south-west of Pune and 285km from Mumbai.

Mahableshwar is the best hill station of Maharashtra. It is situated about 4500 ft. above sea level on the Sahyadri spurs. It was the erstwhile summer capital of Old Bombay Presidency. The tourists are enthralled by its exotic greenery, beautiful gardens & breath-taking scenery. Numerous majestic mansions built during the British days still stand as monuments of the Raj. Known for their production of delicious strawberries, Mapro Garden is a Garden Park established and maintained by the food processing company, Mapro. The Park has lush greenery all around, a little nursery, a restaurant, a chocolate factory and a children's play area. Krishnabai temple

Behind Panchganga temple, there is a small trail that leads to Krishnabai temple believed to be the source of the river. It is built on the hilltop overlooking the Krishna valley and was built in 1888.The temple has a Shiva lingam and a statue of Krishna. A small stream of the flowing from a sculpture shaped as a mouth of a cow(gomukh) falls on in a 'Kunda' or water tank.
